Additional Mobile Inbound Receiving Features

ShipHero supports three additional features during mobile inbound receiving: lot code tracking for quality-controlled items, First Article Inspection (FAI) for SKUs missing dimension data, and product barcode printing for items you receive. Lot tracking and FAI are account-level settings that must be enabled before they appear in the receiving flow.

For an overview of all mobile receiving options, see Overview: Mobile Inbound Receiving in ShipHero.

Lot Code Tracking During Inbound Receiving

When a SKU has Needs Lot Tracking enabled, ShipHero prompts you to enter lot and expiration information when that item is scanned during receiving.

For setup instructions and background on lot tracking, see Getting Started with Lots and Expiration Tracking.

  1. Scan the product barcode. ShipHero detects that the SKU requires lot tracking and displays the lot entry screen.
  2. Select an existing lot or create a new one by entering the lot number and expiration date.
  3. Select Apply to all units if all items in this scan share the same lot (optional).
  4. Continue scanning.

When using GS1 barcodes, ShipHero automatically parses the lot code and expiration date. No manual entry is needed.

First Article Inspection During Inbound Receiving

First Article Inspection (FAI) prompts warehouse staff to enter missing dimensions (length, width, height, or weight) for a SKU the first time it is scanned during receiving. When FAI is enabled for your account, this prompt appears automatically if any dimension field is empty on the SKU record.

For information on enabling FAI and its benefits, see First Article Inspection (FAI).

  1. Scan the product barcode. ShipHero detects that dimensions are missing and displays the FAI prompt.
  2. Enter the missing dimensions.
  3. Tap Save. ShipHero updates the SKU record permanently.

Printing Product Barcodes During Inbound Receiving

Printing during mobile inbound receiving is currently limited to product barcodes. Print a barcode for a scanned item directly from the product page when you need extra labels for putaway or spot-checks.

You need a printer connected to your device before you can print. See How to Connect Printers to the ShipHero Mobile App.

  1. Scan or select a product and tap the menu icon.
  2. Select Print Product Barcode.
  3. Select a Printer.
  4. Choose a print quantity option:
    • Expected quantity: prints the predefined quantity of barcodes for that item.
    • Custom quantity: enter the number of barcodes you want to print.
  5. Tap Print.
