Manual picking uses a printed pick list to guide warehouse staff through the picking process. Inventory is physically moved to the staging location and transfers are confirmed in the ShipHero desktop dashboard. There is no mobile app scanning or automated confirmation in this flow.
Before You Begin
- No assigned pickers: You cannot assign specific locations to individual pickers in the manual flow.
- No confirmation scans: There are no barcode scans to confirm correct products or quantities — accuracy depends on the picker following the printed list.
- Editing locations: You can edit assigned locations before completing the inventory transfer. Any location changes require reprinting the picking list.
- LPNs recommended: For proper inventory tracking — especially when different lots are involved — use LPNs in the staging location to identify inventory.
For a mobile picking flow with confirmation scans, see How to Pick and Pack a Wholesale Order (Mobile) or How to Pick a Wholesale Order (Mobile, Pick Only).
How to Manually Pick a Wholesale Order: Step-by-Step
Step 1. After assigning locations in the Picking Plan, click Set as Ready to Pick. This opens the packing layout section.
Step 2. Print the LPN for the staging location and the picking list.
Step 3. Use the picking list to locate and pick the inventory. The list shows each pick location, the quantity, the UOM, and which staging LPN to deposit the inventory into.

Step 4. Once picking is physically complete, transfer all inventory from the assigned locations to the staging location in the dashboard. This ensures inventory is correctly reflected in ShipHero.
Important
This transfer action is how ShipHero records that picking is complete. Do not skip it — inventory counts at the pick locations will remain incorrect until the transfer is confirmed.
