When an LPN (License Plate Number) doesn't behave the way you expect in the ShipHero mobile app, most issues trace back to what the container currently holds and where it's located rather than the barcode itself. Use this article to troubleshoot common LPN issues in Putaway V2, Multi-Item Batch Picking, and the Mobile LPN Viewer.

Putaway V2 LPN Troubleshooting
Putaway V2 is the ShipHero mobile app flow for moving items to new locations from a move list. This table answers common questions about building, saving, sharing, and replenishing from Putaway V2 lists.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Can I combine different SKUs from different aisles in one Putaway V2 list? | Yes. Scan multiple items and locations to build a comprehensive move list. SKU-Filtered mode (triggered when you scan an item barcode) supports only a single SKU from a single location at a time. |
| What happens if I don't finish a Putaway V2 list? | ShipHero saves any items you already transferred. Remaining items stay in their original location until you resume or start a new list. |
| Can two people work on the same Putaway V2 list? | No. Putaway V2 lists are session-based, so two people can't share one list. Multiple users can create separate lists for the same items if needed. |
| How does Putaway V2 handle replenishment? | ShipHero highlights priority items with a replenishment badge in Putaway V2 so you can restock pickable locations immediately. |
Batch Picking LPN Troubleshooting
Multi-Item Batch Picking lets you pick from labeled LPN containers or from loose stock at a location. This table explains what to do when the ShipHero mobile app rejects an LPN, will not accept a container that looks full, or shows a label you do not recognize.
| Issue | What to Do |
|---|---|
| "Wrong Barcode" appears when scanning an LPN that should be valid | Stock levels update in real time. Another picker may have emptied the container since you opened the screen, or the system may already show it as empty or not matching the current item. Tap View valid LPNs to reload the list and confirm what's currently available. If there's loose stock at the location, scan the product barcode instead. |
| Can't pick from an LPN container that looks full | ShipHero only accepts LPN containers the system currently shows as having stock. If a container's count has dropped to zero in the system, the app treats it as empty regardless of how it looks physically. Pick from a different container and flag the discrepancy to a supervisor. |
| Not sure if picking from an LPN container is required | It isn't. When loose stock is available at the location, scan the product barcode and pick from the open shelf as normal. LPN containers are an option, not a requirement, for pulling from a specific labeled container. |
| Not sure what "SUGGESTED" means on the View Valid LPNs screen | SUGGESTED marks the LPN container with the most units of that item at the location. ShipHero recommends it because it's the most likely to cover the full pick quantity without needing a second container. |
Mobile LPN Viewer Troubleshooting
The Mobile LPN Viewer shows what an LPN contains, including units stored directly in the LPN and units in its nested LPNs. Use this table to resolve common Mobile LPN Viewer issues.
| Issue | What to Do |
|---|---|
| LPN barcode does not scan | Confirm you are scanning an LPN barcode, not an item or location barcode. Make sure the label is flat, unobstructed, and within the scanner's reading range. For a paired scanner, verify it is connected to the mobile device. |
| LPN total doesn't match the loose-item quantity | Check the Nested LPNs section. The total includes both units stored directly in the LPN and units contained in its child LPNs. |
| Mobile LPN Viewer is not available in the menu | Access depends on the mobile app version, warehouse configuration, and user permissions. Contact your administrator if the option isn't visible. |
