Requirements to Connect Zonos with ShipHero

Before beginning the setup, you must have the following information available:

  • Zonos account credentials (setup varies based on the carrier used to generate labels).
  • Zonos-provided tax IDs for relevant destination countries.

Key Reminders

  • The type of carrier you use determines how you set up your Zonos integration within ShipHero:
    • For FedEx and UPS: Zonos configurations are connected using the 3rd Party Billing setup.
    • For DHL, DHL eCommerce, ePost, Asendia, and Landmark: Unique Shipper accounts are provided by Zonos and directly connected to ShipHero.
  • Orders processed using a Zonos carrier integration MUST have DDP enabled so duties and taxes are properly charged to Zonos.
  • Tax Type and Tax ID must be entered on the order for duties and taxes to be properly charged to Zonos and to generate commercial invoices (customs documents).

Configuring Zonos Account by Carrier

To enable the Zonos Guarantee, carriers must bill Zonos directly for duties and taxes on applicable orders. Follow the specific instructions for your carrier below:

Configuring Zonos via FedEx or UPS

For FedEx and UPS, Zonos connections are configured using the 3rd Party Billing process. Follow the steps below for general instructions on setting up a 3rd Party Billing Account. More detailed information about How to Set Up a 3rd Party Billing Account can be found here.

  1. Create a custom profile to assign to orders and to connect the account that Zonos will be configured with.
  2. Connect your FedEx/UPS account to ShipHero using the custom profile for each warehouse you are shipping from.
  3. Add the Zonos account information to the third-party billing fields for Duties and Taxes.

Note for UPS connections: 3rd party billing information for Duties and Taxes is added after setting up the initial carrier connection. To do this, select the pencil icon on the carrier connection list to open the Edit UPS module. Zonos will also provide the third-party billing Zip and Country information.

  4. Enable the DDP billing setting. For FedEx, set Payment Type to Sender. For UPS, select the Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) option.

Additional option for integrating Zonos via UPS: Use the UPS unlock option by mapping in the order number and the prefix “zx” to any reference field in the label call.

Configuring Zonos for Other Supported Carriers

For DHL, DHL eCommerce, ePost (formerly RR Donnelly), APC, Asendia, and Landmark, Zonos will provide a unique shipper account during onboarding. The carrier will invoice Zonos directly for orders shipped on that account.

Follow the general connection process for each carrier and ensure the appropriate settings are enabled:

  1. Create a custom profile to assign to orders and to connect the account that Zonos will be configured with.
  2. Connect the carrier account to ShipHero using the unique shipper account information provided by Zonos to the custom profile for each warehouse you are shipping from.
  3. Enable the DDP setting at the carrier connection level.

Preparing Your Orders to Ship with a Zonos Carrier

There are several settings you must enable on an order to properly generate a label via a carrier integrated with Zonos, including: assigning order profiles, mapping shipping methods, and configuring destination Tax IDs.

Assigning a Profile to the Order

The profile assigned to an order determines which carrier accounts are used to generate a label. Use automation rules to assign the profile to the order when it is imported into ShipHero.

  • Identify your Trigger: Options include Shipping name (a.ka. the shopshipping method), order tags, or destination countries.
  • Select your Action: Use the Action Set Profile and select the profile used when connecting your carriers configured with Zonos.
  • Name your Rule: Use a clear name that makes your rule easily identifiable for future edits.

Here is more information about How to Use Warehouse Profiles.

Mapping Your Zonos Shipping Methods

When an order is imported, the shipping method selected by your customer is recorded as the "Shipping Name." These must be mapped to the corresponding carrier and shipping method in ShipHero.

  1. Go to the Shipping > Methods page.
  2. Filter by your Store using the Zonos integration and select Unmapped methods.
  3. Click the hyperlinked Shop Shipping Method to open the editing module.
  4. Select the preferred Carrier and Shipping method and click Save.

Check out our help article for more detailed information about How to Map Shipping Methods.

Configuring Tax Type and Tax IDs via Automation Rules

Zonos uses specific Tax IDs based on the shipping destination. These must be configured on the order for customs documentation to generate correctly.

  • Identify your Trigger: Use Country as the trigger since Tax IDs are destination-specific.
  • Select your Action: Use the Action Set Order Tax Type and ID. Select the Tax Type from the dropdown and enter the Tax ID provided by Zonos.
  • Name your Rule: Use a descriptive name for easy management.
