How to Single Item Batch Pack Using the ShipHero Web App

Single Item Batch (SIB) packing lets you pack every order picked to a tote during a Single Item Batch picking session from one screen.

Before You Begin

• Pick the batch first: Orders must be picked into a tote using Single Item Batch (SIB) picking before you can pack them. See How to Single Item Batch Pick.
• Choose a platform: Pack from a browser at shipping.shiphero.com, or download the Packing App to pack from an installed application. Both platforms offer the same packing experience.
• Serial number SKUs: Bulkship Mode is not available for SKUs that require serial numbers. Pack those orders one at a time.

How to Pack an SIB Order

Follow these steps to pack a Single Item Batch (SIB) order.

1. Open the Batch: To start packing a batch, open the Single Item Batches page in shipping.shiphero.com, or select Single Item Batch in the Packing App. Click a batch, or scan the tote barcode, to open the packing screen.

   

2. Select an Item: The left side of the page shows a summary of items in the tote. Click an item, or scan an item from the tote (recommended), to start packing it.

   

3. Review the Order Details: ShipHero opens a details section listing the related orders, grouped by the quantity needed for each order, with the first order automatically selected. When a product or order has packer notes, ShipHero displays them here.

   

4. Set the Box and Weight: The section on the right side of the page acts just like the regular single order shipping interface. Set the box and specify the weight for the package.
5. Parcel View (Optional): If a camera is connected, scan the command barcode or click Take Snapshot to capture a photo of the package before printing the label. See the Parcel View Package Snapshot Feature guide for details.

6. Print the Label: Click print to generate the label. You can also print a packing slip along with the label, or use a command barcode to trigger the printing action. Once the label prints, the label cost and tracking details appear above the shipping address:

   

   To void or reprint the label, click the menu button on the right side of that section. If an error occurs, ShipHero displays a message here.

7. Complete the Order: Click Complete. ShipHero removes the current order and automatically selects the next one.

Bulkship Mode for Single Item Batch (SIB) Orders

Bulkship Mode lets you ship multiple SIB orders at once. The Bulkship toggle appears on the SIB packing screen after you scan a tote and start packing its orders. Bulkship Mode is off by default, and you can turn it on or off at any point while packing the batch.

1. Enable Bulkship Mode: Activate the Bulkship toggle in the orders section. ShipHero selects all orders in the same quantity group (for example, every order with 2 units).

   

2. Set the Box and Weight: Select the box and set the weight. ShipHero removes the address section when multiple orders are selected.

3. Print the Labels: Click print to generate the labels. As ShipHero generates the labels, it adds the status of each shipment:

   

   If there's an error, ShipHero shows it here and places a red X next to the order in the order list:

   

   Important

   When you print labels and packing slips together in Bulkship Mode, the printer can sometimes process the print jobs out of order. Before you pack each order, check that the shipping label and packing slip belong to the same customer.

4. Manage Labels (Optional): To void or reprint multiple labels at once, select the Labels checkbox.
5. Complete the Orders: Click Complete. ShipHero removes the shipped orders and automatically selects the next group.

Limitations of Bulkship Mode in SIB Packing

Bulkship Mode in Single Item Batch (SIB) packing has the following restrictions:

• Parcel View: Parcel View is not available when Bulkship Mode is active. To use Parcel View, pack and ship orders one at a time instead.
• Serial number SKUs: ShipHero turns off the Bulkship toggle, and you can't turn it back on, when the selected SKU requires serial numbers. The tooltip reads "Bulkship is disabled for SKUs with serial numbers."
• Orders in an SIB tote: Pack orders that are still in an SIB tote from the SIB packing screen, not from the Bulk Ship page. When you add an order in an active SIB tote to a Bulk Ship batch, ShipHero flags it with the error "Order [order number] is currently in tote [tote name]."

When to Use Bulk Ship vs. Single Item Batch (SIB)

Bulk Ship works best when you have a large number of identical orders. As a rule of thumb, when you have fewer than 10 identical orders, process them with Single Item Batch (SIB), Multi-Item Batch (MIB), or Waves picking instead.
